Illinois American Water Employees Honored
Two Illinois American Water employees were recognized for their construction and safety efforts at the 30th Annual Peoria Area Labor Management Council and Tri-County Construction Labor Management Council award banquet on March 28, 2017.
Roger Goodson, Illinois American Water’s senior manager of field operations and production, was awarded the 2017 Construction Person of the Year award. According to both councils, this award is presented to the person who has made outstanding contributions to the union construction industry, especially by improving labor-management relations.
“I am honored to be recognized with this award and I’m proud of the great working relationships Illinois American Water has with all of the building trade unions in Central Illinois but especially for the relationship we have with our union employees,” Goodson said. “They are the best of the best – the unsung heroes – working in inclement weather and around the clock. They make me proud every day.”
Peoria area Laborer Local 165 union employee Mike Henry, backhoe operator, was also presented with the Safety Award for his efforts to promote safety within the construction industry.
“There’s nothing more important than our team going home in the same condition as they arrived at work,” Goodson said. “Safety heroes like Mike are invaluable to our team.”
