Doosan Infracore has formed a strategic partnership with U.S. big-data unicorn Palantir Technologies for the first time in Korea, as part of the effort to accelerate digital transformation.

Palantir, a Silicon Valley-based startup, provides big-data analysis platforms to organizations in various fields—ranging from the public sector to finance, to manufacturing—to be used for assessing and achieving a variety of business purposes, processes and goals.

According to Inc.’s 2018 list of unicorns (startup companies with current valuation of $1 billion or more), Palantir is the fifth largest, valued at $20.5 billion after Uber, Airbnb, SpaceX and WeWork.

Through strategic partnership with Palantir, Doosan Infracore will build a big data platform to optimize business operation and speed up the decision-making process. More specifically, the company will visualize data across businesses, including sales, production, R&D, quality control, customer services and Internet-of-Things solutions (DoosanCONNECT), establishing collaboration to strengthen communication between businesses and, ultimately, boost effectiveness in operation.

Doosan Infracore North America expands dealer network with the addition of two ACT Construction Equipment branches in Cloverdale, Va., and Winston-Salem, N.C.

These locations now offer customers sales, service, parts and rental of a range of Doosan equipment, including crawler excavators, wheel excavators, material handlers and wheel loaders.

ACT Construction Equipment has been in business since 1951, under current ownership since 1973 and in the compact equipment market since 2008.

In other news, Doosan Infracore North America announced its top-performing equipment dealerships of 2018 for demonstrating a high quality of customer service across sales, parts and services, and scoring well on their annual dealer performance reviews.

Top 2018 Doosan dealers include the following enterprises:

  • Barry Equipment (Webster, Mass.)
  • Best Line Equipment (Allentown, Penn.)
  • Bobcat of Buffalo (Lockport, N.Y.)
  • Bobcat of Mandan (Mandan, N.D.)
  • Bobcat of Omaha (Omaha, Neb.)
  • Capital Tractor (Greenwich, N.Y.)
  • Earthworks Equipment (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan)
  • Equipment East (Dracut, Mass.)
  • Gateway Bobcat of Missouri (Valley Park, Mo.)
  • Paul Equipment (Balmoral, New Brunswick)
  • Wilson Equipment (Central Point, Ore.)

Representatives from the top Doosan dealers earned a spot on the Doosan Dealer Advisory Council, a group of individuals that serve as a resource for Doosan Infracore North America and provide feedback to the Doosan leadership team.

Doosan also opened its second North American parts distribution center, in Lacey, Wash., near Seattle. At approximately 57,000 square feet, the newest facility nearly triples the company’s parts inventory in North America.

Designed for genuine Doosan parts distribution and shipping, and managed by DHL Supply Chain, the center is initially stocking approximately 9,000 SKUs, with room to expand inventory. The parts can be shipped to service Doosan equipment—such as articulated dump trucks, crawler excavators, material handlers, mini excavators, log loaders and wheel loaders—throughout the Western U.S. and Canada.
