Volvo Presents, Receives Awards
Volvo Construction Equipment North America awarded Alta Equipment Company as the 2018 Dealer of the Year. The Detroit, Mich.-based company demonstrated outstanding performance over the last year, intensifying efforts to improve customer experiences, and entering a new market (Illinois) and reinforcing Volvo CE’s presence in the Midwest.
Volvo CE Dealer of the Year Award recognizes the dealership in North America that best promotes the Volvo brand and the company’s core strategies: to provide the highest uptime in the industry, offer unique customer solutions and ensure the best value at any stage in a machine’s lifecycle.
Alta Equipment entered the construction equipment business in 2010 to compliment an existing industrial equipment business and was able to leverage a solid customer base to generate cross-selling opportunities. By expanding its territory into Central and Northern Illinois last year, the company boosted Volvo CE’s market share in the Midwest.
In addition to being a top-performing dealer in the country, Alta Equipment was recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the 50 fastest-growing companies in 2018.
“If there are two words to describe the 2018 Volvo CE Dealer of the Year, they are ‘can do,’” said Stephen Roy, president of sales region Americas, Volvo CE. “Alta Equipment’s team has demonstrated an incredible capacity to solve challenges and to deliver a superior customer experience.”
Volvo CE also received awards, from EquipmentWatch, the leading data researcher for the construction equipment industry.
Two Volvo machines—EC700 crawler excavator (large-size category) and the L180 wheel loader (small-size category)—earned the 2019 Lowest Cost of Ownership award, and the L20 wheel loader was named as 2019 Highest Retained Value. It’s the fourth straight year that EquipmentWatch recognized Volvo CE with awards.
EquipmentWatch annual awards are based on extensive analysis of millions of data records to determine which model series retains the highest percentage of its original value and lowest five-year total cost of ownership. Analysts looked at the most-popular equipment series observed on the resale channel over a 12-month period in 2018. Volvo CE’s machines were chosen for their projected value retention over a five-year period.
“The goal of the EquipmentWatch awards program is not only to help equipment buyers objectively understand the best performing machines,” said Garrett Schemmel, vice president, EquipmentWatch. “The program is also designed to recognize manufacturers for building these higher quality, durable and cost-friendly machines that power our industry.” •
