Sandvik Acquires Inrock

Sandvik, a high-tech and global engineering group, acquired Inrock, a privately-owned supplier of rock drilling tools and services for horizontal directional drilling (HDD) in North America.

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Sandvik GroupSandvik offers products and services that enhance customer productivity, profitability and safety, including tools and tooling systems for metal cutting; and equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries.

As of the third quarter 2018, Inrock will be reported as part of the Rock Tools product area within the Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology business. Houston-headquartered Inrock is a market leader in pilot hole bits, reamers, guidance systems, accessories and services for the premium maxi (HDD) rig segment.

The new, combined expertise will support further development of the HDD product portfolio to customers operating and servicing infrastructure applications such as oil and gas pipelines, water and sewer, telecommunications, electricity and alternative energy production and storage. This includes expanding into the midi-rig segment, accelerating the global footprint of the business, and realizing synergies within production.
