Alliance Water Project Proceeds; Selects Consultant
Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) was selected by Alliance Regional Water Authority (Alliance Water), as a pipeline engineering consultant for a major water project serving several Texas communities in the I-35 corridor.
Since 2007, Alliance Water, formerly the Hays Caldwell Public Utility Agency, has worked in partnership with several cities (Buda, Kyle and San Marcos) and the Canyon Regional Water Authority, which supplies water to portions of Central and South Texas, on a long-term water project to meet future growth in the areas.
This project, Phase 1B Program, will pump water from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer in Caldwell County, and includes design and construction of a new 7.5 MGD treatment plant, well field, raw water lines, 95 miles of 24- to 42-inch-diameter treated water pipelines, an operations and maintenance facility, and connection points to all the stakeholders.
“With the I-35 corridor growing so rapidly, this is a critical project for Alliance Water and Central Texas,” said Travis Michel, P.E., LAN’s infrastructure manager. “The project will provide additional capacity to Alliance Water’s members and address their water needs for the next 50 years.”
As a prime consultant, LAN will provide preliminary engineering, design and permitting, and bid and construction phase services for 18 miles of treated water pipeline.
”LAN has been an integral part of the planning and success of Alliance Water’s program since inception,” said Graham Moore, P.E., Alliance Water’s Executive Director. “We look forward to working with LAN and continuing to rely on their professional expertise as we move into final design.”
The $213.4 million project, funded by the Texas Water Development Board through the State Water Implementation Fund of Texas (SWIFT), is scheduled for completion by 2023.
