Business: Felling Trailers

Felling Trailers Inc., received the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) 2018 Green Manufacturing Award, which recognizes significant contributions towards improving the environmental impact of manufacturing processes and facilities.

Over the course of several years Felling Trailers, Inc. has established several initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint::

  • Upgraded metal-halide lighting systems to T8 fluorescent bulbs, which use one-fourth of the electricity, have 30 percent less light loss, and 40 times longer life expectancy.
  • A partnership with a waste management solution provider to pick-up and properly dispose of materials that resulted in reuse of nearly 8,000 gallons of paint waste as fuel in cement kilns, 165 gallons of waste-to-energy paint and recycling of 500 light bulbs in a one-year period.
  • Ventilation systems that capture welding fumes and gases, remove them from workers’ breathing zones and then filter them with a 99.9-percent efficiency rate, exceeding OSHA requirements.
A system that utilizes heat produced from the compressor room via four, large compressors, configured with two modes: winter and summer.

Along with the award, NATM gives a cash gift for donation to the charitable organization of the recipient’s choice. Felling selected the mikeroweWorks Foundation, which provides scholarships to qualified individuals willing to learn a trade that is in demand.
