Core & Main
Core & Main, one of the nation’s largest distributors of water, sewer, storm and fire protection products, appointed two new senior leadership team members.
Tim Maynard is the new vice president of Corporate Development, responsible for pursuing and executing growth opportunities for Core & Main. He leads the company’s merger/acquisition and corporate development function, including strategy and inorganic growth initiatives, pipeline development, strategic evaluation, deal structure, valuation, due diligence and negotiation. Maynard’s experience includes a large body of transactions among diverse industries and geographies, with an aggregate value of approximately $30 billion.
Mark Whittenburg is the new general counsel and secretary, managing a team of legal and compliance professionals who handle all of Core & Main’s corporate governance, compliance and legal matters. He also advises the company’s senior leadership team and board of directors on legal and strategic matters, such as merger and acquisition activities. Whittenburg’s background includes management and executive roles throughout the U.S. and Far East, most recently as vice president – Legal for the Asia Pacific region of a $10-billion automotive safety company based in Shanghai, China.
In other news, Paul Thom, senior manager of Business Development, received the Benjamin G. Mason Award of Excellence by the Minnesota chapter of the American Water Works Association. The annual award is given to a manufacturer, engineer or vendor member who has “demonstrated exemplary service to the drinking water community and to AWWA’s mission and goals.”
Thom has been with Core & Main and its predecessor companies since 1990, serving in various sales and marketing roles, and a member of AWWA since 1999.
Core & Main distributes water, sewer, storm, fusible piping and fire protection infrastructure products and provides localized, customer-driven services to both contractors and municipalities.
Kleinfelder
Jeff Layne joined Kleinfelder as the national service leader for Gas T&D, providing nationwide leadership to engineers, scientists and construction managers on design, permitting and construction projects for oil and gas upstream, midstream, and downstream pipelines and facilities. He will focus on advancing Kleinfelder’s services related to Gas T&D, and foster the development of innovative solutions and sound recommendations that meet and exceed energy clients’ needs.
Layne has more than 25 years of energy market experience covering engineering, operations, safety, business development, commercial transactions and regulatory compliance. He specializes in providing turnkey pipeline services, completing over $3 billion in midstream projects and providing engineering, due diligence and asset valuation support for over $10 billion in business development projects for expansion, acquisitions, and joint ventures. With experience leading projects throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Norway, he brings a broad perspective on industry best practices.
Kleinfelder is a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists and construction professionals providing solutions that improve clients’ transportation, water, energy and other private infrastructure.
GTI
Gas Technology Institute (GTI) re-elected the following people for three-year terms on the Board of Directors:
Carlos Cabrera, executive chairman, Genomatica Inc.
David Smith, chairman, National Fuel Gas Company
John Somerhalder II, chairman, president and CEO (retired), AGL Resources
Lori Traweek, chief operating officer, American Gas Association
Also on the board, Terry McCallister, chairman and CEO, WGL Holdings Inc. and Washington Gas, was approved to maintain his position as chairman. Rebecca Ranich, director (retired), Deloitte Consulting LLP, was chosen to continue to serve as vice chair.
In addition, the Board elected the following GTI Officers for another term:
