Vacuworx Unveils Compact Vacuum Lifting System
Vacuworx has introduced a compact vacuum lifting system for handling concrete slabs, steel trench plates, pipe and other job-site lifting needs.
The new CM 3 system is designed to fit on skid-steer loaders, track and articulated wheel loaders, said Randy Hayes, Vacuworx corporate sales director. “To the best of our knowledge, the CM 3 is the only vacuum lifting system like it on the market.”
It is available now directly from Vacuworx or its authorized dealers.
According to Hayes, vacuum lifting is safer and more efficient than conventional methods such as anchors, books, slings and chains. Because of its compact size, the CM 3 can be used on compact host machines that can work in areas where larger equipment cannot operate.
The CM 3 operates with a hydraulically driven vacuum pump using the auxiliary hydraulics of the host machine. A minimum 10 gallons per minute (gpm) is required, with a maximum 3,000 psi. Maximum lifting capacity is 6,600 pounds. A preset flow control valve is designed to ensure optimal performance of the host vehicle.
Quick turnaround
The CM 3 can be attached in minutes to the host machine with a universal mounting plate assembly and quick-connect hydraulic hoses.
The rugged, all-steel unit accommodates interchangeable single or double pad configurations for lifting a variety of size and weight materials. The adjustable spreader bar for double pads extends from 61 to 85 inches measured from outside of the seal channels. Flat and pipe pads are sold separately to meet specific needs.
The CM 3 comes with steel legs for storage, which can either be removed or rotated up when the system is in use. The CM 3 weighs 499 pounds, is 71 inches long, 40 inches wide, and 31½ inches high.
“Initial response to the CM 3 has been outstanding,” Hayes said. “At trade shows last spring, contractors said the primary benefits to them are that the unit can be installed in a few minutes by simply connecting to the auxiliary hydraulics, that it can maneuver in places that previously have not been accessible with larger pieces of equipment, and that it can reduce manpower needed on jobs.”
