John Deere Updates Excavator, Intros Utility Wheel Loaders

The latest John Deere equipment to be updated to meet the needs of today’s contractors includes the production-class 470G LC excavator and K Series-II utility wheel loaders.

The 367-horsepower 470G LC now comes fully loaded with an EPA Final Tier 4 13.5L diesel engine and automatically cleaning diesel particulate filter (DPF). It also incorporates customer-inspired and productivity-boosting features, such as a comfortable and spacious cab, and enhanced LCD monitor with simplified navigation. In addition, optional 2D/3D grade guidance sensor-mounting brackets enable customers to install their preferred aftermarket grade-control system.

With a DPF that can go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal, and engine and hydraulic oil sample ports that allow for convenient, proactive maintenance checks, the 470G LC offers contractors a durable solution for earth moving, pipeline and other projects.

John Deere has also introduced the 524K-II, 544K-II and 624K-II utility-class wheel loaders with improved fuel economy of up to 10 percent for increased productivity and reduced downtime.

The updated lineup offers new standard five-speed transmissions with optimized gear ratio changes. When paired with the John Deer PowerTech EPA Final Tier 4 (FT4)/EU Stage IV diesel engines, the wheel loaders enable operators to work in any environment, even in nonattainment areas.

The PowerTech engine delivers impressive torque – 130 horsepower (524K-II), 163 horsepower (544K-II) and 624K-II 186 horsepower (624K-II) – to help sustain stable boom and bucket speed in and out of the pile for heaped loads, even in wet or hard-packed material. Featuring reduced engine RPM during high fuel usage operations, the wheel loaders have excavator-style hydraulics that sense loads and deliver the flow needed for smooth combined functions and fast work cycles. The K-II series also offers increased hydraulic pump displacement to accommodate lower engine speeds.
