Registration Opens For UESI/ASCE Pipelines 2016 Conference

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ newest institute, the Underground Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI), will hold its annual Pipelines Conference in Kansas City, MO, from July 17 -20. This year’s conference is appropriately titled “Out of Sight, Out of Mind, Not Out Of Risk.”

The Pipelines 2016 program will be expanded to include technical sessions involving pipeline planning, designing, constructing, renewing, operating, managing and maintaining lifeline assets. The technical sessions program will include more than 170 papers plus three preconference workshops and a post-show technical tour. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn up 26 professional development hours

The event will be held at the luxurious Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center, conveniently located in the heart of Kansas City. People will be amazed at all Kansas City has to offer such as the Jazz District, authentic Kansas City barbecue and a variety of museums. Special events and networking opportunities with industry leaders are always a highlight of the conference. An expanded exhibit hall will be full of interesting and beneficial new products.

Pipelines 2016 will draw personnel from utility and pipeline owners, design and consulting engineers, contractors, manufacturers, sup-pliers, students, academia and researchers.

Richard Mueller, American Concrete Pressure Pipe Association and Rick Nelson, CH2M, at the 2016 Pipelines Conference co-chairs.

“As an engineer,” Nelsen said, “the UESI/ASCE Pipelines Conference has been a significant part of my career by providing state-of-the-art presentations on all aspects of pipeline engineering.

“In addition, the conference has provided opportunities for networking and significant involvement in committees and development of industry guidance documents that stand the test
of time.

“This year is especially exciting to me since the conference is being held where I work, in Kansas City, MO, home of the world champion Royals. There is a tremendous amount of pipeline related work going in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and the conference is being held in the heart of it all. In addition, there have been many improvements within the city to improve your overall experience including the light rail which is just opening this year, the Power and Light District and many more attractions. I look forward to seeing you and know you will enjoy the conference,” Nelson added.

Benefits

Mueller emphasized that “even for those unseen infrastructures, technology is always changing. There are new products, changes to traditional products, new applications for traditional products, new ways to find out what has been working and what has not, new technologies to reduce the cost and risk of installing and maintaining both new and traditional products, and much more. The ASCE Pipelines conference is the fastest, most cost-efficient way to communicate and learn whatever is happening in the world of pipe.”

The Pipelines Conference offers additional benefits, he stressed. “You have to be here to stay up-to-date and competitive. Plus, we get to spend a few days with some of the best people and engineers in
the world.”

Registration for the conference, which is expected to attract more than 900 people, is now open at www.pipelinesconference.org. The website contains information about the show venue, loading and transportation information, contact information, sponsor and exhibitor information, schedule-at-a-glance, and more.
