S&N Announces New Director Of Safety and Risk Management

Janine AllenS&N announced the hiring of Jannine Allen as the company’s new Director of Safety and Risk Management. Allen most recently served as the lead health and safety professional at Oconee Nuclear Station’s Major Projects organization in Seneca, SC. Prior to her time at Oconee Nuclear Station, Allen held the role of safety consultant for Khemet Construction in Columbia, SC. In her two previous roles, the seasoned industry professional provided safety expertise to major construction projects, worked closely with OSHA and the Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and implemented safety training initiatives.

In Allen’s new role at S&N, she will begin with immediate focus on policies and procedures in an effort to streamline the safety process. Her unique take on the industry is spearheaded by the believe that safety can’t be driven sitting behind a desk.

“I’m not one to throw policies at people, and then have them figure out how to make it work, said Allen.

“I’m here to be a resource and help people own and negotiate the safety process at all levels.”

The rapid growth within S&N carried heavy weight, as well as an inspiring incentive, in Allen’s decision to take on the challenge of the company’s safety director role. The expanding company is in the midst of a stimulating growth period that will allow the new safety director to put her stamp on safety and risk management, said Allen.

“[Allen] has the skillset and personal skills to take our company up another level when it comes to things like situational awareness, said Allen Powel, president and CEO of S&N.

“And she wants to have everyone – from directors to field workers – claim responsibility for incidents in their area.”

Coupled with her work overseeing the development and streamlining safety procedures and field training, Allen will also take on responsibility for risk management, with oversight of damage claims and workers compensation.

“My goal is to integrate safety into the fabric of what we do every day,” said Allen.

Allen hails from Brooklyn, NY and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety and health from NC AT&T State University, as well as her Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health from East Carolina University. Allen also holds designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). 800-757-6842, www.sncomm.com.
