Caterpillar Unveils Host Of New Products In 2015

It’s been a busy year for Caterpillar. The company held two press events, one at their Athens’ fabrication and assembly facility in April and another in Tucson, AZ, in May to announce six new series to their product line up. The new products meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final Emission Standards and have new options, operator features and improved fuel efficiency.

Hydraulic Excavators
The new Cat 313F L GC hydraulic excavator features an efficient C3.4B U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final engine that’s light on fuel with no need for diesel exhaust fluid. It has a proven one-pump hydraulic system that makes everyday tasks like light excavating, spreading top soil, setting utilities and fine grading floors easy to do. It also comes equipped with unique features like a long undercarriage, a quiet and comfortable full-size Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) cab, and easy-to-reach service points.

The 336F XE 36-ton hydraulic hybrid excavator cuts fuel consumption by up to 20 percent compared to Cat’s standard 336F. The 336F XE is loaded with features like time-tested Cat Grade Control and the new Cat Production Measurement System come standard on this machine.

D Series Loaders
Cat adds four new D Series small-chassis models to the loader market – two compact track loaders (models 239D and 249D) and two skid-steer loaders (models 226D and 232D). Integrating the enhanced designs of larger D Series machines, the smaller models include a sealed and pressurized cab, electro-hydraulic controls, low profile lift arms, premium seat choices and optional advanced display, available with rear-view camera. The D Series loaders feature Creep Control and Continuous Flow, which allow operators to slow the track speed of the equipment while maintaining high RPMs on attachment tools. A new, optional track tread pattern on the 239D and 249D track loaders is a 15-inch track with a wide bar tread. This different pattern delivers better flotation, lower ground disturbance and better snow traction.

D2 Series Loaders
The new Cat 272D2 skid-steer loader, 297D2 multi-terrain loader and 299D2 compact track loader – along with their more powerful XHP counterparts – build on the engineering advances of their D Series predecessors. Now standard on all six D2 Series models is the exclusive Caterpillar heads-up advanced display, and all feature a new engine-compartment sealing system for enhanced airflow debris control. Non-XHP models have increases in ROC, and XHP models now maintain their excellent ROC numbers without external counterweights. All models have a vertical-lift loader linkage and use a Cat C3.8 engine.

F2 Series Backhoe Loaders
Four new F2 Series backhoe loaders include the 416F2, 420F2, 430F2 – the new 415F2 model in the range is tagged as an entry-level machine featuring a 68-horsepower Cat engine. The new F2 Series center-pivot models build on the performance, reliability and durability of their F Series predecessors with a new operator’s station and added features and options that further enhance performance and operator productivity. The 420F2 and 430F2 continue to be available with both single-tilt and Integrated Tool Carrier front linkage, and four-wheel drive is standard for the 430F2 and available for other models.

K2 Series Small Track Type Tractors
The new D3K2, D4K2 and D5K2 track type tractors feature Slope-Assist, part of the Cat AccuGrade Ready attachment, which allows controllers to automatically maintain a pre-established blade angle for a consistent grade. In addition, with Automatic Traction-Control and Slope-Indicate, the models also retain the hydrostatic drive, Stable Blade and Power Pitch systems and Eco Mode found on previous models. Operators also can enjoy a spacious, well-appointed cab with improved climate comfort features.

M-Series Small Wheel Loaders
The new Cat M-Series small wheel loaders – 926M, 930M and 938M – build on the success of K-Series predecessor models – 924K, 930K and 938K – with engineering refinements that include new engines meeting Tier IV Final emission standards and new options and features that further enhance value, operator comfort, and safety. Innovative features introduced with the K-Series carry over to the new M-Series family.
