Fibrelite

The thermal gradient properties of a composite steam cover significantly reduce the heat transfer from a steam vault to the surface of the cover. Typically, the surface temperature of a composite cover is only slightly above ambient temperature, even when subjected to extremely hot temperatures on the underside – and snow has been known to conceal newly-installed composite steam covers. In fact, the best high-quality composite steam covers, such as those manufactured by Fibrelite, maintain their cool-to-touch properties and ability to support vehicular loads even when pushed to a test temperature of 400-degrees Fahrenheit.

Composite steam covers also come with several other safety benefits. Covers are light-weight and can be lifted easily and safely by an operative using a specially-designed ergonomic lifting handle that eliminates the risk of manual handling injuries, such as crushed fingers or back strain. Composites have no resale value and are therefore very unlikely to be stolen, but optional locks can be fitted.

For public areas such as sidewalks, non-slip treads can be built into the manufacturing process making the covers a safer alternative to concrete or metal. 800.422.2525,
