Lester Dale “LD” Garrett, 75, died on Oct. 7, 2014.
Garrett worked in the pipeline industry for more than 40 years, in addition to several years with Reading & Bates Construction. Known as an expert in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) , Garrett traveled extensively throughout the world advising and working on HDD projects.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; three daughters Beth (Joe Tichacek), Kelli (Tim Flanagan) and Patti (Joe Chesney); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Albert Jay Gilbert, age 89, passed away Feb. 19. He is survived by his wife Betty; sons, Jerry and John Gilbert; grandchildren, Jennifer Ralls, Janet Cardona, Dana Sanchez, Jeremy Gilbert and Rebecca Hanson; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Files and Mabel Howell. He formed Jetco, which became Trencor and then formed another trencher company called Trench-Tech.
Nicholas A. Beffer, Jr., 57, died March 17 in Sayre, PA. He started his pipeline career working for H.C. Price in 1981 and was most recently working as the safety director for Oz Directional Drilling in Pennsylvania.
Beffer was the son of the late Nicholoas A. Beffer, a Pipe Line Contractors Association Honorary Member. He is survived by his wife, Jacque; two daughters, Amber and Jodi; and two sons, Nick and Joe.
Gerald A. Snyder, 87, passed away April 13 in St. Petersburg, FL. He began is pipeline career in 1949, progressing in his career until 1960 when he became the owner of Pace Pipeline Co., headquartered in Greensburg, PA.
Snyder was elected to the Pipe Line Contractors Association board of directors for several years and served as PLCA president in 1980-81. He was elected an Honorary Member in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jannetta; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and George Stump; daughters Heather and Holly and three great-grandchildren.
