Ditch Witch Undercon has expanded its market with the acquisition of Ditch Witch of Omaha.

The sale was finalized July 16 with service to customers shifting seamlessly at the same location to the new ownership, said Lenny Sadler, Ditch Witch Undercon chief executive officer.
“We are excited to add Omaha to our list of dealerships,” said Sadler. “Ditch Witch Undercon now covers the whole state of Nebraska and has a presence in Western Iowa.”
Based in Amarillo, TX, Ditch Witch Undercon also owns and operates Ditch Witch dealerships in Grand Island, NE, with a branch in Gering, and Park City (Wichita), KS.

Sadler said the purchase included all of Ditch Witch Omaha’s assets, including equipment, parts and rolling stock. Greg and Beth Medlin, former owners of Ditch Witch of Omaha, remain owners of the building which is leased to Ditch Witch Undercon.

“We do plan to build a new facility,” Sadler said, “but staying in the present location allows us to serve our customers without interruption. Prior to the transfer, we installed a new business system compatible with the Ditch Witch factory and other dealerships.”

Most employees have been retained, he added. Roy Rathgeber, manager of Ditch Witch Undercon’s Grand Island location, will travel between the two cities and manage both for the immediate future. Ditch Witch Undercon Chief Operating Officer Jake Sadler also is spending much of his time in Omaha.

Lenny Sadler took over the Ditch Witch dealership in Amarillo – Ditch Witch of West Texas – in 1972 when he was 24-years old. Today he is one of the longest-tenured dealers in the organization. Son, Jake, joined the company in 2001.

The Sadlers purchased the dealerships in Wichita and Grand Island in 2012, and built a new facility in Park City which opened in June 2014. Construction on a new facility in Grand Island is scheduled to begin in 2016.

All Ditch Witch Undercon locations carry the full line of Ditch Witch underground construction equipment including: trenchers, vibratory plows, horizontal directional drilling equipment, fluid systems, drill pipe, downhole tools, tracking equipment, vacuum excavators, compact utility equipment, utility locators, trailers, accessories and support equipment. All locations have a broad selection of quality trade-ins.
