LAN Celebrates Earth Day With Nation-Wide Volunteer Efforts

Employees across planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) celebrated Earth Day 2015 with nation-wide volunteer efforts.

More than 100 employees, including the firm’s president, assisted local community organizations in painting wooden fences, picking up trash and recyclables, planting trees and flowers, removing weed near fence line and mulching trees at various parks, lakes and beaches around the country. All volunteers wore an Earth Day T-shirt designed in-house as part of a company-wide design contest. Following a morning of clean-up activities, volunteers were treated to a picnic lunch.

Check out a short video of the cleanup efforts.

“As we celebrate Earth Day, it is our responsibility to keep our communities, and our world, more livable, beautiful and green,” said Dennis W. Petersen, P.E., LAN’s President. “We are happy to play a small part to increase environmental awareness and give back to our community.”

LAN’s volunteer activities in various cities included:
• Houston: Cleanup along White Oak Bayou Hike and Bike Trail near downtown.
• Dallas: Trash cleanup around White Rock Lake, held by the Love of the Lake.
• Austin: Cleanup of the Brushy Creek Lake Park, hosted by the City of Cedar Park.
