Colonial Pipeline, Call 811 Team Up To Host "Diggin' Day"

Event to be held April 25, 2015, at Tractor Supply Company in Oak Ridge, NC

WHAT: A recent national public opinion survey found that nearly half of all homeowners will put themselves and their communities at risk by failing to call 811 before digging. The survey results, extrapolated to the full population of U.S. homeowners, indicate that approximately 38.6 million people will dig this year without first having underground utility lines marked, resulting in potential service interruptions, bodily harm and/or financial ramifications. In response to these findings, Colonial Pipeline and Call 811 have teamed up to host Diggin’ Day, a family-friendly event at Tractor Supply Company in Oak Ridge aimed at promoting the importance of safe digging. The event will feature a raffle for a $250 Tractor Supply Company gift card, free pizza, giveaways, and an appearance from 93.1 The Wolf. In addition, representatives from Colonial Pipeline and North Carolina 811 will be on site sharing safe digging tips just in time for spring landscaping projects.

WHEN: Saturday, April 25, 2015, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Tractor Supply Company, 8005 Marketplace Dr., Oak Ridge, NC 27310

Interviews: Colonial Pipeline and NC 811 representatives will be on-site and available for interviews.
