Industry Veteran Dick Schantz Dies
Richard (Dick) N. Schantz, of Cedarburg,WI, passed away Sept. 6. He was 71 years old.
Schantz was born in Wauwatosa on Oct. 11, 1942, son of Harold and Monona Nickles Schantz. He was a true Boy Scout, achieving Eagle Scout and Order of The Arrow status. Dick was captain of the hockey team at Madison West High School and later played college hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). He proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and met his wife, Ann Rayfield, while stationed overseas, whom he married in 1969.
Schantz worked in international construction as an engineer in Saudi Arabia for Aqua Chem building desalination plants. The couple settled in Cedarburg in 1988. Most recently, Schantz worked for Aries Industries, retiring in 2013 after more than 20 years.
Schantz is survived by his wife of 45 years and their two children: John and Mai Wyn (fiancé Zach Smith). He is further survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life was held with Military Honors on Sept. 11 at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg.
