Energy Pipelines In The News

Energy Transfer Partners, a Houston, TX-based company, says a subsidiary—ET Rover Pipeline Company LLC —intends to build an interstate pipeline to move natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale gas formations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio to a terminal in Ontario, Canada.

The 365-mile Rover Pipeline will cross Ohio and Michigan and ultimately carry 3.25 billion cubic feet per day. Additionally, the company expects to construct an approximately 195-mile segment from the Defiance area through Michigan and ultimately to the Union Gas Dawn Hub (Dawn) near Sarnia, Canada.

Pending the results all necessary regulatory approvals, Energy Transfer plans to have initial service to the Midwest Hub located near Defiance, OH, and Gulf Coast markets by the fourth quarter of 2016, and the remaining service to markets in Michigan and Canada by the second quarter of 2017.

Energy Partners has already secured capacity commitments and long-term agreements with multiple shippers and has set a date of June 2017 to have the pipeline running.

Enbridge’s Sandpiper Oil Pipeline was approved by North Dakota regulators in June for a $2.6 billion pipeline project that could transport nearly a quarter-million barrels of crude oil daily to market.

The three-member North Dakota Public Service Commission voted unanimously in favor of the Sandpiper project during the commission’s meeting at the state Capitol.

Canadian company Enbridge will oversee the construction. The 616-mile project, between 24 inches and 30 inches in diameter, would be able to move up to 225,000 barrels per day from a facility south of Tioga to an existing terminal in Superior, WI. Nearly half the pipeline mileage would be in North Dakota.

Federal regulators recently gave the project the green light on their end.

Price Gregory International Inc. has been awarded a contract by Sierrita Gas Pipeline for the installation of approximately 60.8 miles of 36-inch pipeline in Pima County, AZ. Headquarters is Tucson, AZ. The starting date has yet to be determined.
