WESTT No-Dig Lifts Off In Albuquerque
The 10th Western Regional No-Dig Conference & Exhibition will be hosted by the Western Society for Trenchless Technology (WESTT), along with media partner Underground Construction magazine, on Oct. 6-7, at the Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, NM.
The conference is the most definitive utility event in the region discussing the latest opportunities in trenchless construction and technology.
The two-day event will qualify attendees to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), provided by Arizona State University. The courses are designed for public officials, engineers, utility company personnel and contractors who are involved with constructing, rehabilitating and managing underground utilities. Participants will be educated about trenchless technology from industry experts who will be presenting peer reviewed technical papers on a wide range of topics that include pipe bursting, structural water main rehabilitation, installation of sanitary sewers, HDD crossing, pipe ramming and much more.

Visiting Albuquerque will allow conference attendees to experience the authentic Southwest. As one of the oldest cities in the United States, Albuquerque boasts a unique multicultural heritage and history.
Ranked as the 59th-largest United States metropolitan area, Albuquerque is the most populous city in New Mexico. It is the county seat of Bernalillo County, and is situated in the central part of the state, straddling the Rio Grande.
Every two years, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority develops a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) spending plan for the next 10 years. The city’s Decade Plan 2014-2023 includes the condition-assessment, planning, design and construction management of the city’s 2,400 miles of sewers, which carries wastewater from homes and businesses to the community’s Southside Water Reclamation Plant for treatment prior to release into the Rio Grande. About 200 employees are responsible for operation and maintenance of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County wastewater infrastructure.
However, Albuquerque offers even more. Craig Camp, WESTT chairman, said that planning the location for this year’s show was especially important. “Attendees will be celebrating WESTT No-Dig Show’s tenth anniversary in Albuquerque, which coincides with Balloon Fiesta,” he said. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Oct. 4-12, is the biggest and best gathering of balloons. For nine days every October, the crisp, clear desert skies are painted with a kaleidoscope of color as hundreds of balloons lift off from Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta Park. Course schedule
Registration for the first day of the conference includes an informative technical program and product exhibition area. On the second day of the conference, NASTT Good Practices Courses will be offered.
“An added benefit of this program is that each attendee receives a copy of the NASTT No-Dig Proceedings presented at the national conference and the NASTT trenchless book on horizontal directional drilling,” said Camp.
Participants will be able to attend peer reviewed presentations and 20 sponsored exhibits, in addition to meeting with industry experts in a relaxed atmosphere during several networking opportunities.
There are sponsored breakfasts each day, two scheduled session breaks and lunch in the exhibit area. An evening cocktail reception is also planned for the first day of the conference for attendees to mingle with their peers, friends, industry professionals and exhibitors alike.
