Piercing tools from TT Technologies, HammerHead Trenchless Equipment, Vermeer, Hudco Mfg. and Footage Tools.
TT Technologies
Grundomat is constructed from durable hardened alloy steel and reliable machined components for maximum power and precision. Grundomat tools are also equipped with an advanced reversing system, as well as, an in-line lubrication system. Basic and deluxe packages are available with the Grundomat. Especially suitable for economical last mile installation, the Grundomat’s reciprocating stepped-cone chisel-head ensures high impact accuracy. The chisel-head action of the Grundomat tool is unique because it hammers away at solid obstacles. This two-stroke action means that the piston’s impact is concentrated on the reciprocating tool head for optimum boring performance. The Grundomat is available in 16 models ranging from 1 ¾ to 7 inches in diameter, for horizontal boring distances from 50 feet to 150 feet. 800.533.2078, tttechnologies.com
HammerHead Trenchless Equipment
The Catamount line of piercing tools offers a reciprocating head tool that is easy to start, regardless of air pressure level. The pneumatic piercing tool head is effective in both hard and soft soil conditions. The Catamount tool line is currently available in 2.5-, 3- 3.50- and 4.38-inch diameter tools. The head is driven by air that resets the head, eliminating the need for mechanical springs, which are a common source of failure in trenchless tool designs. The design takes full advantage of reciprocating head technology by increasing production rates in all soil types and also reduces tool swim at any operating pressure. A patented quarter-turn reverse feature pneumatically locks the tool into forward or reverse gear, preventing accidental direction change during the bore. The valve whip is designed to be flexible, preventing tool binding if a bore collapse occurs. Designed to eliminate the introduction of debris into the tool body, a patented debris free tailcone increases overall production and tool life. 800.331.6653, hammerheadtrenchlesss.com
Vermeer
The Vermeer Hole Hammer pneumatic piercing tool’s moving-head design provides full striking force of the piston to the head of the tool pulverizing stones into the surrounding soil. The residual energy generated is used to help the tool body travel through the compacted bore path. This results in more accuracy in tough soil conditions and reduced tool deflection. It also incorporates a mechanical reset for the head assembly, helping ensure each blow delivered compacts soil in front of the tool to increase production and accuracy. Because Hole Hammer tools feature a mechanical spring reset design, the head fits tightly to the body of the tool, resulting in an easy and smooth-starting tool. A ribbed tool body provides additional tool grip for traction in loose soils, helping achieve forward impact on each blow. Inside the body tube are precision-fitted components that reduce seal wear, overall tool maintenance and operating costs. The piercing tool is available in 2-, 2½- and 3-inch sizes. 641.628.3141, vermeer.com
