Wheel Loaders: Equipment Spotlight
Wheel loaders from Doosan, New Holland, Case, Volvo, Caterpillar, Kubota Tractor and John Deere.
Doosan
The Doosan DL200 wheel loader has a breakout force of 22,230 pounds, a full-turn tipping capacity of 17,110 pounds and a 2.6-cubic-yard bucket and a dump height of 9 feet 6 inches. All routine maintenance can be performed at ground level and a new roomy cab provides operators outstanding visibility and low cabin sound levels. The DL200 boasts 160 hp and has been upgraded to be interim Tier 4-compliant. For those requiring additional dumping capabilities, the DL200 is also available in a high-lift configuration, extending the dump height 15 inches above the standard DL250, to 10 feet 9 inches. doosanequipment.com
New Holland
The B Series compact wheel loaders pay their way on the jobsite with outstanding performance in a compact, maneuverable machine. These machines feature a standard hydraulic quick coupler that is compatible with all skid steer loader attachments, a boom design that provides outstanding visibility and breakout force, and high-speed options for travel up to 21.7 miles per hour. The W50B TC features a 54-hp engine, a 1.05-yd3 bucket and an operating weight of 10,173 pounds. The W80B TC features an 82-hp engine, a 1.44-yd3 bucket and an operating weight of 12,544 pounds. 262.636.6011, newholland.com
Case
The 621F wheel loader provides up to a 10 percent increase in fuel economy over the previous model, while delivering faster acceleration, quicker cycle times and higher travel speeds. To meet Tier 4 Interim emissions standards, Case F Series wheel loaders use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, which results in lower temperatures in the exhaust system while optimizing combustion. The Case 621F wheel loader features a 6.7-liter Tier 4 Interim-certified engine that delivers up to 162 hp. Classified as a 2.75 yd3 wheel loader, the Case 621F has an operating weight of 26,641 pounds. The machine offers four programmable power modes to save fuel and increase available power. Case offers a range of attachments for the 621F wheel loader, including pallet forks, brooms, jib booms, buckets and weigh-load systems. 262.636.6011, casece.com
Volvo Construction Equipment
The new L45G and L50G feature the latest emissions-compliant engines and Volvo patented TP Linkage, ensuring high breakout force and parallel movement throughout the entire lifting range. For moving in restricted work areas, these machines feature the modern stylistic redesign of the G-Series range – compact dimensions come from the shorter frame as a result of the transversely mounted engine. The Tier 4 interim L45G and L50G are fitted with the Volvo D4 four-cylinder turbocharged off-highway diesel engine, which features cooled gas recirculation and a particulate filter with active regeneration and produces between 98 and 114 hp. Flexibility is a key feature of these two wheel loaders, and it’s enhanced by an attachment bracket that enables quick tool changes. ISO standardized, the bracket allows the operator to clearly see the attachment points from the cab, and the variety of Volvo attachments available is extensive. 825.650.2000, volvo.com
Caterpillar
Equipped with an advanced powertrain system, the new Cat 966K XE wheel loader delivers up to a 25 percent fuel efficiency improvement while delivering efficiency by utilizing an integrated Cat continuously variable transmission system. A hydraulic pump and motor (variator unit) allows for a smooth and continuous gear ratio change between engine speed and machine speed. The continuously variable gear ratio of the variator also enables the engine to run at a more efficient operating range independent of machine ground speed. The 966K XE is powered by a Cat C9.3 ACERT diesel engine, delivering 290 hp. The 966K XE has just two pedals with reduced operating interface/mode complexity. In addition, the operator is free to concentrate on bucket fill and digging capabilities without the need for manual shifting. The operator can confidently utilize the machine while the integral power system control prevents engine over-speeding and makes it nearly impossible to stall the engine while digging. cat.com/requestCatinfo
Kubota Tractor
The versatile Kubota R-Series wheel loaders offer better visibility, more power and outstanding productivity. The R420S wheel loader comes with Kubota’s own 43 hp E-TVCS diesel engine, while the R520S model comes with 49 hp. Kubota’s wheel loaders are loaded with capabilities; including electric shuttle shift lever to allow on-the-go directional change without clutching or braking, as well as Load Sensing Transmission which automatically adjusts speed and torque in response to load conditions. With standard 4-wheel drive, limited slip differential and rear frame oscillation, Kubota wheel loaders are known for their excellent traction and stability. 888.458.2682, kubota.com
John Deere
The John Deere 544K Wheel Loader is equipped with a 163 hp, IT4 emission certified engine that delivers impressive torque reserves. The popular model rides on a wide stance that provides additional stability for handling heavy loads and working on rough terrain. Overall balance is exceptional. Same-side ground level service access makes the daily routine quick and easy. Enhanced onboard diagnostics and extended service intervals further maximize uptime. The NeverGrease pin joint option keeps joints tight longer for more productive operation, extending pin life overall and eliminating daily greasing. 800.503.3373, deere.com
