In Memoriam: Sanford “Sandy” Brown
Sanford “Sandy” Brown, 77, passed away at his home in Giddings on Feb. 26. He was a registered Professional Engineer and worked for Dow Chemical, El Paso Products and Flint Engineering and Construction.
Ever an entrepreneur and businessperson, Brown started several pipeline construction companies including Two Rivers Construction in Odessa, TX, and Holloman Offshore in Aberdeen, Scotland, as well businesses in other industries. In 1979, Brown and his wife, Jane, started Brown Engineering and Testing, from which he retired in 2003.
Brown worked on pipeline spreads throughout the United States, building and testing some of the most notable projects of his era. Through his vision and leadership, Brown Engineering became one of the most prestigious engineering and testing firms in the pipeline sector.
He was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by two daughters, Teri (Rick Brooks) and Leslie (Earnie Wright); son, Charlie (Angie Brown); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
