Gild Members Gather at AGA
Members of the Gild of Ancient Supplers of Gas Appliances, Skills, Gins, Accessories and Substances gathered at the recent AGA Operations Conference in Nashville, TN, to make their traditional charity donation to a group selected by the recipient of this year’s Award of Merit Recognition.
Chuck Dippo, vice president of Engineering Services & System Integrity for South Jersey Gas Company, was the honoree.
The Gild is a non-profit honor society of suppliers to the gas industry throughout the U.S. and Canada. Established in 1937, the select group’s primary objective is to encourage the use of gas while striving to promote good will and good fellowship among its members and to the great industry of natural gas.
At its formation, members selected the pattern of the ancient Gild to afford the best symbolism to express its goals of loyalty to craft, worthiness of membership and dignity of years of service. Its ancient form and ritual in a modern age provided opportunity for entertainment and pleasure, without detracting from serious and idealistic purposes. Seniority of service is recognized by the membership into classes by their years of service to the industry. Members having served more than 10, 15, 20 or 25 years are classed respectively as Villeins, Apprentices, Yeomen or Masters.
