Skid-Steer Loaders: Equipment Spotlight
Skid steer loaders, mini skid steers and attachments from Volvo, Case, New Holland Construction, Bobcat, Caterpillar, John Deere, Vermeer, Ditch Witch and McLaughlin.
Volvo CE
Volvo offers the first nine models in its C-Series skid steer loader line that are Tier 3 compliant, have rated operating capacities from 2,250 pounds and gross engine power from 84 hp to 92 hp. The first four tracked models in the range have rated operating capacities up to 3,200 pounds and gross engine power to 92 hp. Due to the single loader, tower arm design, the operator cab access is easier and safer. On wheeled machines, a bolt-on non-slip step under the door increases safe entry and exit of the cab. Dependable track performance provides increased stability on steep grades and rough ground. Tracks deliver higher traction and floatation, along with lower ground pressure. 828.650.2000, www.volvo.com

John Deere
The Worksite Pro line for skid steers and compact track loaders include two “dozer” blades, five vibratory rollers, four cold planers, two tillers, and two hydraulic breakers (also works with compact excavators). These attachments also can function effectively with competitive models. In particular, John Deere=s new breakers feature a solid one-piece design that does not need side bolts, resulting in a tougher breaker that is ideal for a wide variety of heavy-duty applications. The low-pressure, nitrogen-charged design cushions operators from recoil, while the narrow overall shape allows these breakers to work in tight quarters, crowded jobsites and places other breakers can=t. Instead of a high-pressure accumulator, Worksite Pro breakers employ hydraulics and a gas-assist cycle to develop force, resulting in more efficient operation and high power-to-weight ratios. With few seals and moving parts, and no special tools necessary, these breakers provide durability and simplified maintenance. 800.503.3373, www.johndeere.com
Caterpillar
D-Series small hammers have ultra high blow rates for greater productivity in concrete and asphalt applications. The nitrogen membrane accumulator is a self-contained design for constant power during the piston stroke. The simplified design of the D-Series small hammers ensures a lower owning and operating cost and improved serviceability. The single bushing design combines three bushings for a slip fit that is field replaceable. The hammers have an enclosed housing with dampers protects the power cell, eliminates side plate cross bolts and reduces noise level during hammer operation. 309.675.1000, www.cat.com
Case
Case offers a selection of five models of planetary drive augers to match the size and flow range of your machine. Choose from 2-inch hex or 2 9/16 round output shafts for most models and a full line of auger bits to meet your job requirements. The HDP style augers are recommended for moderate to difficult conditions such as rocky, frozen, heavy clay and other compacted soil conditions; asphalt and other hard to penetrate ground conditions. The heavy-duty cast steel boring head makes penetrating difficult ground much easier than conventional augers using bolt-on style cutting edges. All HDP augers come with double flighting. The HDF style augers use a bolt-on tooth system and a heavy-duty fabricated boring head. The augers are designed with ½-inch thick shank plates, which the teeth bolt onto. The pilot is cast steel as is the drive lug it attaches to. All teeth are forged and heat-treated for maximum wearability. All bolts and nuts are self- locking and torqued to manufacturer’s specifications. 866.54.CASE6, www.casece.com
