CertainTeed PVC Pipe Plant Recognized For Safety And Health Achievement
CertainTeed’s polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe plant in Lodi, Calif., was honored by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (CA OSHA) through its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). CertainTeed is the 51st company in California to be given this award.
The plant manufactures pipe that is used in trenchless municipal utility installations, agriculture irrigation projects and water well applications. Specifically, the plant produces CertainTeed Certa-Lok pipe, which has achieved industry recognition for its ability to increase efficiency, improve productivity, cut costs and reduce the environmental impact of projects.
The SHARP program recognizes companies with a proven commitment to establishing a series of protocols and practices that provide safe and healthy working conditions. CertainTeed was given this distinction after a thorough review of policies, procedures and employee interviews over the course of multiple site visits throughout 2010 by CA OSHA officials.
“Workplace safety is of critical importance to our team, and this award has extra meaning because it demonstrates how seriously we take safety,” said Dave Duggins, plant manager for the CertainTeed Lodi plant. “We are so proud of our employees and how hard they continually strive to ensure that everyone is working to be both productive and safe.”
The CertainTeed team in Lodi leads seven safety groups, conducts 72 safety training observation programs per month, offers safety suggestions, creates and completes safety work orders and participates in various safety assessment programs.
