Kicking Off UCT 2010
A beautiful day in Tampa and UCT has kicked off to a promising start.
Education sessions are under way, with strong showings in several tracks—I saw big crowds in Sewer Rehab, New Tech for Sewer/Water and Damage Prevention rooms, and plenty of action in Rigonomics. Still waiting on cumulative head counts, but the sessions are well-attended and running smoothly.
At 11:30 the Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA, formerly GCTA) presented Andy Mayer of Murphy Pipeline Contractors with its annual MVP award for the biggest contributor to the advancement of trenchless methods at a white-tablecloth banquet lunch. Video of Mayer’s speech is coming soon—watch to see why he thinks it took UCTA so long to recognize him, after he brought British prechlorinated pipebursting methods to the United States. Hint: it’s his accent.
THe exhibit hall opens at 3:30 p.m. There’s still time to catch a few more classes before then…
