Miami-Dade water main rupture floods tunnel, worker critically injured

(UI) — A water main rupture flooded an underground construction tunnel in southwest Miami-Dade, leaving a worker in critical condition, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred late Monday near Southwest 120th Avenue and Southwest 220th Street, where crews were working underground when the line failed, rapidly filling the tunnel with water.
Officials said the worker was trapped underwater for several minutes before being pulled out by coworkers, who began CPR before emergency responders arrived. The worker was transported to a nearby trauma center.
The cause of the water main break has not yet been determined. Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.
