John Deere

New to its line-up of P-Tier machines, John Deere debuted five new P-Tier Skid Steer Loader (SSL) and Compact Track Loader (CTL) models: 330 and 334 P-Tier SSLs and 331, 333 and 335 P-Tier CTLs. They boast a brand-new, one-piece cab design with premium options, enhanced technology features, and an overall increase in operating power.

Expanding offerings in grade management solutions on compact models, the 333 and 335 P-Tier machines can be equipped with John Deere SmartGrade technology, helping to boost productivity on the job.

Prioritizing operator comfort and capability, the new P-Tier models’ operator stations are larger and fully redesigned. Built from the ground up with direct feedback provided by customers, the new models feature multiple styling upgrades. The new operator station is sealed, pressurized, and isolated from the frame to help improve operator comfort and productivity. This means that outside noise will be lowered, and the cab interior is better protected from the elements.

Utilizing the 8-inch premium touchscreen display interface, available on the full line-up of P-Tier models and standard on the 334 and 335 P-Tier, customers can experience better insight and customization of machine settings and viewing information. When the premium display is selected, a range of standard features and benefits are included within the software.

Onboard Grade Indicate is standard on the new touchscreen display. This feature displays the cross-slope and main-fall of the machine in either degrees or percent and allows operators to use a relative benchmark to assist in maintaining a desired grade.

Helping take control to the next level; the optimized joystick controllers enable more tasks to be completed with easy-to-reach and adjustable controls that offer personalized setup. The new 25-Button SSM puts all functions in one spot, eliminates rocker switches, and makes it easier to quickly make machine adjustments while operating.

With a focus on serviceability, the new cab tilts up in one piece, giving ground-level, all-around access to the engine, drivetrain, and undercarriage of the machine. A single operator or technician can raise the boom and enable the mechanical lock out from within the cab. In addition, visibility has increased 20 percent over G-Series, improving visibility out the front, sides, and back to the machine.

A brand-new technology making its debut on these models is Surround View.

Available on all P-Tier models, this technology stitches together views from around the machine to provide a birds-eye image to the operator to assist with increasing situational awareness and giving more confidence to operators to navigate job sites with ease. When reversing, the display will automatically switch to the rearview camera which gives the operator a closer view of what’s behind the machine.

Surround View dynamically integrates two boom mounted cameras in addition to a rear camera onto a dedicated monitor that provides a 270-degress view of the sides and rear of the machine. Adding enhanced visibility and situational awareness for operators can help prevent damage and keep operators safer on the job.

Lastly, the John Deere Operations Center will continue to be included on all large-frame CTL and SSL, enabling fleet managers to monitor machine location, codes, fuel usage and other key features more efficiently. Enabling data sharing with a dealer streamlines maintenance and repairs and can help prevent downtime when issues are identified early.

DEVELON

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the job site, where crew members are hard at work navigating narrow pathways and tight corners, a new contender emerges, poised to make a big impact, despite its small stature. Introducing the latest addition to the DEVELON mini excavator line: the DX17Z-7.

Weighing approximately 4,200 pounds, it’s the smallest member of the DEVELON mini excavator fleet. Unlocking potential for landscaping, residential construction and utility work, DX17Z-7 answers operators’ requests for a mini excavator that can swiftly maneuver in tight work spaces.

In addition to its compact size, DX17Z-7 stands out in the DEVELON product line due to its specialized feature of a retractable undercarriage with a collapsible dozer blade. This enables the mini excavator to squeeze into small spaces when needed and provides steady operation when working on slopes.

The 16-horsepower DX17Z-7 is designed with productivity and maneuverability in mind. Offering a 48-inch track width, the DX17Z-7 can travel between homes on tight lot lines or flush against existing structures in developed areas, where larger equipment doesn’t fit. If the machine can access the work area, it has the potential to replace work that was previously done by manual labor with shovels and wheelbarrows.

The machine’s zero tail swing design also makes navigating in urban areas and around confined worksites or obstacles easier than ever. Operators can maneuver with confidence next to structures without sacrificing turning, digging or lifting performance.

The new mini excavator features an open canopy cab for optimal operator visibility. A selectable control pattern switch gives operators the ability to change between ISO and “backhoe” patterns, depending on their preference. The change valve is located beneath the floor cover and is easily accessible without the need for any tools.

The machine comes standard with the new MY DEVELON telematics system that monitors the health, location and productivity of DEVELON equipment from a user-friendly mobile app and website.

Optimized design

Unique to DX17Z-7, the retractable undercarriage and collapsible dozer blade offer versatility and efficiency when accessing and working in confined spaces. The retractable track is easily controlled via an electric switch on the control panel. The fully retracted undercarriage allows the excavator to enter narrow spaces. When fully expanded, the undercarriage provides optimum stability, especially when working over the side.

The collapsible dozer blade can be retracted or expanded to meet various job site needs. To make grading, leveling and backfilling as easy as possible, the blade float feature allows the blade to follow the contours of the ground without operator input.

Auxiliary hydraulics are configured with flush-face couplers to make quick, easy hose connections when using augers, breakers and other hydraulic attachments. Like all DEVELON -7 Series mini excavators, the DX17Z-7 features a hydraulic quick-coupler-ready design with quick-coupler hydraulic piping installed to the end of the arm. Additionally, the DX17Z-7 has a thumb-ready design to grab and lift objects.

The excavator’s undercarriage design helps protect against wear and tear of all retractable parts. The rubber track undercarriage provides superior flotation and traction on sensitive or soft surfaces and minimizes damage as it travels across them.

Standard cylinder guards protect the machine’s cylinders in the event of collisions with other objects. Onboard diagnostics enables proactive maintenance management to ensure the machine operates at its optimal performance.
