LiuGong Dressta Celebrate New, Award-Winning Crawler Dozer

LiuGong introduced the all-new Dressta TD-16N, a revolutionary dozer.

The TD-16N features a mid-cab design over a mid-mounted automatic, dual path hydrostatic drive train. And it comes digitally ready and with a standard 6-way angle blade. Controls are accessible, intuitive and easy-to-use, thanks to the electro-hydraulic joysticks.

With an operating weight of 42,090 pounds and 170 net horsepower, it delivers power and performance.

While maximum visibility was high on the design team’s agenda, it was not the only consideration. Safety, productivity and operator satisfaction were also priorities.

“Every operator out there has a story about falling off the tracks,” said Ed Wagner, executive director of New Technology and leader of the LiuGong Dressta design team. “This is the first machine where you don’t have to get onto the tracks.”

First, the team designed non-slip steps at the rear of the machine, complete with safety handrails, always allowing easy, “no-tracks” access to and from the cab with three points of contact maintained. Second, the design ensured that all access points for daily checks, maintenance and fueling are reachable from ground level.

The TD-16N’s cutting-edge design was also recognized by a Red Dot Product Design Award, the revered, international seal of outstanding design quality.

For more than 60 years, LiuGong Machinery has been a leader in China’s construction equipment manufacturing industry. From building its first modern wheel loader, LiuGong has evolved to offer 19 product lines of extreme-duty, intuitive machines for construction equipment owners constantly challenged to do more with less.

Caterpillar Introduces Five, New Backhoe Loaders

Caterpillar introduced five, new backhoe loader models operating in the 14- and 15-foot size classes: Cat 415, 416, 420, 420 XE and 430. Building on the success of the Cat F2 Series backhoe loaders, the new line offers similar model platforms to deliver component commonality and operating similarities.

A redesigned operator display incorporates analog machine gauges with color LCD information that is soft key controlled for easy navigation. Informational icon pop-ups offer quick navigation between operating modes, while full text diagnostic descriptions simplify machine troubleshooting and maintenance.

The redesigned security system disables the engine, transmission and hydraulic system until a valid passcode is entered via the LCD operator control screen or a machine-specific Bluetooth key is detected. As with the F2 Series, pilot controls are standard on the 420 and 430 and optional on the 415 and 416 models. New seat controls and touchscreen LCD operator display are now standard on the 420 XE.

All models are powered by a Cat C3.6 engine that meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. For the 415, 416, 420 and 420 XE, the engine consists of a service-free Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emission solution, with diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). Cat 415 requires only the DPF to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 requirements, avoiding the need for DEF. The DPF is designed to deliver reliable operation throughout the machine’s service life.

Lowering operating costs, the new engine delivers up to 10 percent improved fuel economy, compared to the F2 Series. Selectable power management modes on the 420, 420 XE and 430 offer the choice of Standard Mode engine performance for increased fuel savings or Standard Plus Mode to boost machine performance by maximizing backhoe implement speeds. The 420 and 430 models come standard with powershift transmission and spring-applied, hydraulically released (SAHR) parking brake.

Standard 4-wheel drive with rear differential lock on all models improves traction in poor ground conditions. New boom cylinders on the 420 and 420 XE offer up to 15-percent more boom lift capability to elevate operating performance. The 420 XE features electronic loader controls that enable selectable parallel lift for increased material retention in loading applications.

These models also feature adjustable auxiliary hydraulic flow to the backhoe, so hydraulics can be fine-tuned to meet the operating specifications of hammer, thumb and auger attachments. Increasing machine utilization, the new Cat line can be equipped from the factory, or as a field-installed kit, with an optional Integrated Tool Carrier (IT) loader coupler for fast tool changes. Also lowering operating costs, the new backhoe loaders are compatible with F2 series attachments.

To maximize machine uptime, the latest Cat Product Link comes standard. By customizing machine operating data gathered like fuel usage, scheduled service reminders and fault code alerts, to meet specific needs for improved fleet management.
